Battery, what do they use to hold them in place?

Last time i was at the track they said my battery needed to be securly held down. It has as long as i owned it just sat on the tray loose. What do these cars use so i can get through inspection next time?

There a plastic clip on the tray that grabs a lug on the bottom/side edge of the battery case. The clip is held on by a bolt that threads into a hole in the tray.

There is also a lip for the other side of the battery on the tray itself. Occasionally this breaks, as it did with mine.

I bought a new battery and when i replaced it i checked the tray. The hold down is there but the front side bracket lip is gone. I see where it was so its time to replace. Thanks for the help guys!

I don't know if the '94s are the same, but i failed tech at an autox for that. The lip broke on mine and you have to replace the entire overflow resevoir since it's also what the battery sits on and bolts to. Lame.

Anyone know if this is true for the 94's? I also noticed because i got the top and side mount on the battery now the hood will not close all the way because it hits the hood. The battery must be a little taller so i'll have to figure it out or take it back. Can the mounts for the top of the battery be cut or grinded off with no problems? I always use my older batteries on my other cars and when i need a new battery it always goes in the Z and the others get the hand me downs.

I bought a battery tie-down from yearone.com. They have one for our cars. Check in the camaro catalog, I'm not sure on the part number.

If you are asking if the 94 also has an integral coolant reservoir and battery tray, the answer is yes.

Classic industries has one for $36. It has the coolant reservoir attached so at least its cheap.
