I'd still go with some nice drag radials... I drove my nittos on the highway every day and in the rain a bit too. Just gotta be easy on em and they work fine. Those tires won me lots of races I shouldnt have won...

ok i lowered it down to a few options:

Hooker LS1 Long Tube headers and then later on add straight true duals pipes with magnaflow mufflers

ls6 intake

SLP LS1/LS2/LS6 Camshaft Kit-Camshaft, Springs, Retainers, Locks

98-02 LS1 Harmonic Balancer / Underdrive Pulley

TCI Torque Converter w/ B&M Supercooler 19000 GVW Transmission Cooler

-The TCI torque converter and tranny cooler are a good idea, but there are some better options out there other then TCI in my opinion.
-Underdrive pulleys do very little other then emptying your pocket book.
-The LS6 intake would probably be a good idea along with a heads/cam upgrade, but not entirely as a stand-alone mod.
-A camshaft kit would add the most power, but realize there are extra costs beyond that kit starting with a gasket set that will run probably a couple hundred bucks.
-Of everything listed, I think the headers would be the best route. After all, establish the basics first. It would be senseless to have a cam swap done when you don't have a comfortably breathing engine.

for the ls6 intake...i'd say it's a very good stand alone upgrade. dyno proven time and again for 7-10rwhp on a bolt on car...upwards of 15+ on cammed or h/c cars.

and there are better choices thann the ls6 cam...go for the tr224 cam
