Shaved hatch key hole-how to get in?
Shaved hatch key hole-how to get in?
For anyone that has shaved their hatch key hole...you would have the keyless remote and the hatch button in the car. If the button in the car and the remote break how do you get in?
I am looking at using my camaro power hatch release on my street rod project. I would like to shave my trunk handle so that's why I want the power release. I would put the yellow button in the console, but if the hatch release motor goes out or something in the system breaks how would I be able to open the trunk? The only thing I can think would be to climb through the car and unscrew the loop on the trunk to open it then replace the motor?
Any ideas??

again this is not for a Camaro so climbing through the car to manually open it wouldn't be as much of a problem. The question is how do I manually open it? The trunk won't even be opened very often so I'm not real concerned, but I just want to think ahead...
I'd rather not get any kind hidden button because the reason I want to use the camaro release is to aviod spending any money. If I were to put in a button I would probably just go ahead and buy a remote popper.

Auxiliary button is no good, because an equally likely scenario is failure of the popper solenoid or electrical system
What you will need is a small cable or wire hooked to the release that goes somewhere you can access it and manually pop the latch. Could be inside and require you to get into the hatch area, or could be thru the floor and underneath the car.

sounds good...i guess i'll have to figure out how it works and figure out where/how to attach a wire to it...thanks
