96 z28 factory alarm system

I believe my car has the optional factory alarm system installed. Is there information on how to remove it? Its too easy to set off when I get into the car.

According to the 1996 Service Manual, if you lock the doors with the inside door switch, the alarm will not set. I think that would be a much simpler task than trying to remove the system.

If it is the optional factory alarm system, you should have RPO "UA6" on the Service Parts Identification label.

The info in the post above above is the simplest.

System operation is described in the 1996 Owner's Manual, Page 2-13. If the problem is caused by the shock alarm being too sensitive, the shock sensor can be adjusted to be less sensitive. You can also select passive or active initiation of the alarm system. If you don't have an Owner's Manual, you can access it here, and download a pdf:

It is not necessary to set up an account.

Additionally, there is detailed info in the factory service manual, as mentioned in the post above. Free download of manual here:

See Book 1, Part 2 of 2, Section 9D.

Thanks for the responses. I suppose it isn't necessary to uninstall the alarm system if its adjustable.
