91 rst

Alright so basically I have a 305 long block i have the ac delete bracket and The smog pump delete brackets And I wanted to get rid of the power steering but might of jumped the gun. The bracket held the alternator so what I did was cut it above the power steering to have the bracket mount for the alternator and not sure if I messed up or not. Can I buy a belt to route it without it? Only bracket missing is the PS pulley. Everything else is their and it’s a serpentine belt setup.

You can get serpentine belts in pretty much any length.

I needed a 78” belt on my new setup with some nonstandard pulley sizes. Gates (best belts on the market IMO) part number K060780 was what I needed. If you can figure out the length you need, just replace “78” in that part number with it. For example, a 65” belt would be K060650.

Amazon carries them; just figure out what you need and search for it.

Re: 91 rst

You don't mention a belt tensioner - confirm we are looking at a serpentine belt system.

If I read correctly, the only change in the routing you have made is to delete the power steering pump, and move the alternator to the position previously occupied by the power steering pump. Is that correct?

A picture of the new setup would be helpful. I've looked online and in my 3rd Gen Chilton's manual, and can’t seem to find a clear routing diagram for the 91 305 V8. I found one that appeared to be 305 specific, but only the crankshaft pulley is labeled.

Re: 91 rst

I’m new to the forum scene so not sure how to add a picture. The tensioner is apart of the ac bracket. Everything is all their except I cut the power steering bracket to delete the power steering. That bracket also held the alternator on the top portion of the bracket. The alternator is staying in it’s original position. I was just curious to see if anybody else went this route. I know I can get a manual steering box from a s10 to swap mine which isn’t a problem their just wasn’t sure on if i could still use my stock belt or if I needed a shorter/longer one. I’ll try and figure out how to get a pic up.
