Altenator Relocation Bracket: Why cant you use any brand?
What are you trying to accomplish? There is one LT1-specific bracket that allows you to drop the alternator down to the bottom, while keeping the A/C and power steering. Obviously, you have to select a bracket that allows the serpentine belt to drive all the accesories and maintain belt tension. You aren't going to accomplish that without an LT1-specific bracket, since the serpentine drive on the F-Body LT1 is unique. If March makes one for the LT1, fine. If you mean their "generic" SBC bracket, there is no other SBC that ever used the same belt configuration as the LT1.
If you are talking about the case where you remove the A/C and power steering, and just want a bracket so you can locate the alternator down at the bottom, and drive it directly from the stock damper/pulley with no tensioner, you could make your own, or buy one of the ready-made ones from Madman or SJM Manufacturing. Or maybe adapt a March.
