Question which octane do you use?

Hey everyone, I am curious as to what octane you run in your lt1/ls1. I currently run 89 because filling a tank of 92 every week is kind of .....scary expensive... i've never had knocking either.

You won't hear knock with low octane fuel. The knock sensor will pick it up before you hear it, and the PCM will pull ignition timing, reducing engine power. The only way to know if its knocking (and losing performance) would be to put a scanner or scanning software on it, and see if the PCM is pulling timing.

so, if there were to be any knock, would it do any damage or would it just be a performance loss?

The knock sensor hears the onset of knock, long before it can do damage to the engine, and retards the timing. You will only lose performance.

I run 91 or 92 (depending on the gas station) in my LT1.
