Maybe a dumb question, but did you disconnect the fuel lines? You should be able to see them at the top left of the hole. Two are quick-release, the other two are vent lines and are slip-fit.

I cut the hole on mine a little more to the left and to the front to access the fuel line connections.

Did you use the information "stickied" at the top of the "Fuel and Ignition" forum?

That's where this should have been posted.

When I do this, I track where the lines go on top of the tank and I cut an extra flap on the top left out to make it easier to disconnect the lines, the usual instructions online don't show that part, but it makes it easier. Firstly, make sure that you have properly relieved fuel pressure, and just in case when disconnecting these 4 lines (2 rubber that just slip off the metal lines on the other end, 2 metal with plastic disconnect clips), wear safety glasses anyhow to prevent being blasted in the eyes by fuel (though not likely). These lines are a quick disconnect but aren't always easy because they are close together. They are just two sided flaps, pinch them both down and pull the lines connected to the pump apparatus, one at a time, have a rag handy as fuel will likely come out despite having relieved pressure. IIRC, you may have to push inward as you pinch the clips in and then pull. I find a flathead screw driver helps on one end, with your finger on the other to release a tricky one, but don't be too aggressive and break the clip.
