Fuel pump help
Hey guys this is a question about If my fuel pump is good enough
I had bought the car with a fresh 190lph fuel pump, will this support what I have done
Ai 200cc heads and intake
383 stroker
42lb racetronix injectors
Holley afpr
Ai custom cam
11.9 compression

Re: Fuel pump help
There are a lot of variables involved, so you have to make assumptions:
-Brake specific fuel consumption (assume BSFC = 0.483 #/HR/HP)
-Fuel specific gravity (assume 0.72 SG = 6.0 #/Gal)
-Return to tank (assume 20%)
If you make these assumptions, multiply estimated flywheel HP x 0.38 to get the minimum pump size in liters/hour.
Example: 500 flywheel HP x 0.38 = 190 LPH
As you can see, you are marginal on fuel pump and if you expect more than 500 flywheel HP you need more pump. Or if you have a very efficient combustion chamber and a very good tune, you might approach 0.45 BSFC and you could make 540 flywheel HP with the 190 LPH pump. Make sure the pump is flow rated at 190 LPH when operating at 43.5psi, and that is where you are running your fuel system.
My recommendation, from looking at the limited specs you listed, would be that you need a larger pump.
