Re: Fuel Pump

When I opened the rear hatch and lifted the carpet there was a square someone cut out covered in tape. I peeled back the tape and saw the fuel pump RIGHT underneath the tape. Not the filter the PUMP....I have 30 days to return the regulator so if it doesnt solve it I can always return it. When I removed the vacuum line from the regulator I smelled fuel in the vacuum line which leads me to believe it is the regulator. But we will see.

I'm just going by what you typed, which didn't make much sense.

If the hatch is sealed with "tape" you might want to cut an oversize metal panel, and install it with numerous pop-rivets or sheet metal screws and some good sealer. With only tape, in an accident, you're going to have fuel in the passenger compartment.

Re: Fuel Pump

Yeah sorry about the misunderstanding. My bad, shoula been more clear. Anyway your right Im going to try and find a better way to seal it. But im going to wait until I know for sure that the regulator will/wont fix it.

Re: Fuel Pump

Ok I installed the FPR and here is the deal....The car still takes a few tries to fire up on a COLD start, but after that, it always fires right up on the first try...So the problem seems half fixed..What would cause that? Fuel pump?

Re: Fuel Pump

I also replaced the Fuel filter and checked injectors for leaks

Re: Fuel Pump

Did you test the fuel pressure first start of the day and then again after to see if the pressure was the same including the drop in pressure after? I used to have a weak battery after sitting all night, but the car would start but not as good after driving and fully recharging the battery. You could check the battery and alternator to eliminate them. If you get fuel pressure in the acceptable range for all the test, then its time to look else where.

There was a list of 5 possible problem. Appears you ruled out three of them - FPR and leaking injectors.
