96Z won't start

I've been reading a few post but haven't came up with the exact issue I'm having.
I was driving the other day to the gas station. I was low on Gas but not completely out. As i pulled up to a light my car started *sputtering and shaking, knocking* really loud. It died out on me, but when i hit the ignition it started back up, but doing the same rattling and sputtering. I though I had ran out of gas. so i pushed it in to the gas station and put $20 just to ensure i didn't have problems. After fueling, i tried starting it and it started again, but still doing the same thing. The car would not respond if i hit the accelerator it would just sputter, shake and knock. The car would not respond to me pressing the pedal.. It did that a few times, now all the car does is crank it will not turn over. I thought it was the pump, but when i try to start it i can smell the gas.
could this be a bad Opti. or electrical issue?

Any help would really be appreciated...

Check the fuel pressure. The pump should prime to at least 40psi, shut off after 2 seconds, and hold that pressure or close to it for a while.

Turned out to be the Opti, Coil and Cap... changed them out and it fired right up..... Kind of would of been better if it was the fuel pump... what a PITA that was.....
