Well i was working on the interior and whatnot and i got rained out so did a small bit of welding.

I also got the engine harness in the car.

I got the 90* for #7 tacked in and the transistion from 1 5/8s to 2 1/2inch done. IM gonna bring the pipe to work and drill the holes for the rest of the primaries.

I still need to grind the weld and make sure its all good.

Those flanges look thin... how thick are they 1/4" or 5/16"?

they are 5/16, the parts guy i ordered them from told me they were probably 3/8s when i ordered the kit. Once it is all welded i am gonna cut off all the stock between them for less changes of warping.

Well I was stuck at work till 5am and came home to weld my header...
It turned out okay gonna need alot of grinding etc but it should work!
I was having issues laying a nice bead bc my damn 200 dollar welders wheels for the wire feed stick constantley. I am really thinking about trading her in and upgrading to a lincoln 140 or something.

Anyways here is the drivers side without and grinding and cleaning.
I also welded a bead inside the flange.

when i built mine, i used all flux cored wire. It's a lot more tricky to make them look nice, but i have beads on piping from flux core wire that look as good as a real MIG, theres just some splatter.

Good luck with them jay - That was my first design and it was impossible to get them to seal. I tried round and square gaskets.

That gunk they sell at homedepot (and other places) for flux welding actually works. Its like a gel liquid stuff you put on the metal around where you are working and it helps keep the splatter from sticking to the metal. Then just wipe it off.

Question for you guys..... SHould I weld a bead on the inside of the flange then grind it flat to give a better seal? I know my old ong tubes were done this way. Either way im gonnna bring them into work and grind the mating side smooth.

I don't know for sure... Mine was flat. Some of the headers I have seen looks like the primaries are slipped through the headers and then pressed into that lip. My hookers didn't really look like they where welded to the flange, more like stamped together.

I had the best luck with a big square copper gasket that had a little lip built into the gasket. It was almost big enough to fit over the d and circle ports, so you still had flange to head seal even though the ports are different shapes.

I like your attitude though - Its a learning experience for sure - I hope it works for try, didn't mean to bash.

i used a lincoln 240 handy mig or w/e it is on mine when i did the T70 build, their pretty nice little welders. That 140 you got, is it a 115V input?

You'll like what I just ordered to start workin on my setup

ALSO, dont plan on running that rubber elbow, ive watched a couple of them blow up like balloons from boost lol.
