OLD LT1 Paxton Blower Setup

So I have a friend looking at a 96 Z28 with a Paxton SC on there. This is the old SN93 or whatever, non intercooled, FMU consisting of a TB plate with 3 injectors, etc. And I can't find any info on the dang thing.

The car itself is a 54k mile car, so even at the $4900 asking price, yanking the blower off and selling it would still make the car an ok deal. Anyway......

what's the potential of these old Paxtons? The biggest issue I can forsee is figuring out how to get an intercooler into the mix with the blowers rear facing outlet. I know the first thing we'd be doing to it is pulling the FMU stuff and getting a real tune for the boost.

Anyone have any info on these? Or any references to one where a FMIC was fabbed into the mix?

TIA

Old technology. They only flow about 800 CFM. Probably 7-8 PSI on a 350 with the smallest pulleys. The crappy part is the discharge that snakes around the exhaust manifold/headers makes it very hard to put an intercooler on it. Methanol is probably your best bet as far as cooling goes.

Re: OLD LT1 Paxton Blower Setup

I agree with 97ws6 I had an sn2000 on my last setup on my 355 it only made 4 psi which is basically what they're rated at without upgrading the impeller. How it comes you're looking at 4-6psi, with an upgraded impeller 6-8psi and per my research there's only one way to get that thing to put out more boost and that's by adding a vr4 kit to it which is changing the impeller and the housing if I remember correctly and supposedly that upgrade is good to 12-16 psi. Only problem is they don't make the vr4 housing anymore and I believe there is only one company that even deals with them and that's cundn racing if you wanna have your buddy look em up.
