Cool Twin 76mm 383 LT1 build thread

Well this thread has been a long time coming. I used to be a member on this board a few years ago, however I forgot that accounts login. I started a Single 76mm kit from Lt1 boost for my 95 z28. At the time it was just a LE2 hci bolt on LT1. I got about half way through the build and as life goes I got laid off from my job (which seriously impeded the building funds). Long story short I was unable to find real work for two years. I had to move twice, which meant the car, parts, and the entire garage had to be moved as well. What a Pita! Im still looking for parts I lost lol. Anyway I have a real job one again so back to the garage I go! Oh yeah somewhere along the way a second turbo got thrown into the works.

So here are some of the details on the car. 95 z28, fully built 383 shortblock 9:1 comp with le2 heads and intake, custom ground turbo cam, twin pte 76gts turbos on e85. Suspension is all tubular adjustable from spohn, k member, torque arm, lca, panhard bar, sfc's, ect. Strange 12 bolt with 3.08 gears and a spool. The Molly ds is connected to a built pg with a tb a 4,500 stall. Big and little Mickey Thompson rims with 325 et streets for rubber.

I am still in the process of fabing up the new turbo system. The headers are from Johns kit everything else is being put together by me. (John I hope you are not pissed that I canabalized your kit to make the new setup!)

I just wanted to start this thread to keep me motivated, ask a few questions, and share some Pics. Hopefully I can figure out how to upload them from my phone.

Making the 2.5 in pipe fit inside the T4 flange. They went together so easily I swear they were made for each other.

Keep in mind that all my welds up to this point were made with a 100 dollar 110v flux core welder. I just recently got a decent mig welder. The finish welds will look much better.

I think I am going to paint the exhaust and trim ring in high temp black header paint and maybe get some nice polished stainless steel hardware.

Thanks for posting all that - it'll be interesting to see how it turns out, and it looks like you have a good start on it. Good job so far!

I love it!! im a sucker for symmetry when it comes to twins...offset turbos are just like a pair of lopsided breast you're glad to have em but you would like both to look the same.

Re: Twin 76mm 383 LT1 build thread

Twin 76GTS?! Dang... what are you looking to end up with HP wise? Great looking setup btw. I see there's no intercooler intersected in that kit. No room or no need?
Congrats on being able to pick up the job and resume your project!

Re: Twin 76mm 383 LT1 build thread

Thanks guys I really have no idea what I will end up with hp wise. The motor is pretty built but it is still a factory LT1 block. It was hand picked and sonic tested so it is about as good of a factory block as any. I guess it just depends how much I want to push it. No ic because e85 is awesome!
