To o-ring or not?

I'm building a 383 L98 engine for my 69 Nova. What I need to know is what you guys are using for head gaskets? The Cometic MLS gaskets sound good but will they hold up to say 12-15 psi, or should I o-ring it and use copper gaskets? Do copper gaskets tend to leak water? Thanks for any help you can give.

Unhappy Re: To o-ring or not?

Sorry guys I tried searching for "head gaskets" and I can't find anything! Maybe I'm just new. If anyone has an opinion on head gasket for blown motors I need your help. I'm at a disadvantage here because guys with older cars don't do this kind of stuff!
Thanks, Steve

FYI. I have an LT1, I run over 15#'s of boost on ARP Studs and Felpro Gaskets, and I haven't blown the gasket yet.

Re: To o-ring or not?

Go with Cometic Gaskets don't bother with O-rings and copper head gaskets they are a pain trust me I know! I have never been able to get mine to seal they always seem to leak some coolant under boost. If I could do it over I would use the Cometic gaskets.

Thumbs up Re: To o-ring or not?

Thanks alot guys, very helpful info! By the way cometic or fel pro loc wire ( w/ studs) sounds like the way to go.

Re: To o-ring or not?

I second Jeff's comments about copper gaskets. They are not for street cars, IMHO. They always seep if not outright leak.
