HELP!! Blue O-rings on Opti pin?????

I'm doing my opti and I took the old one out and when I went to put the new one in it was giving me a hard time. Now I was thinking maybe the dowel pin wasn't lining up but when I looked closer it wasn't even coming into contact with it yet. Then I noticed on my new opti that it has 2 blue o-rings on the pin that goes into the motor. I looked at my old one and it doesn't have any o-rings so whats the deal? I also looked inside to make sure that the o-rings weren't still in the motor but I don't see them in there. Am I suppose to take these off so I can install it or should I leave them on and just try to push it on and make sure the dowel is in the right spot?

The opti should have two o-rings on it.

ok I tried again but this time I put a little grease on the o-rings and it slipped right in. I just wasnt sure if they were necessary since the original didnt have them. Thanks for the help

Your old one didn't have any o-rings because they had disintegrated.

Cool. The only reason I changed my opti was because the car has almost 100,000 miles on it and when I went to the dyno, the graph showed I had ingnition breakup after 4800 RPMS so I went through the whole ignition system. Opti, coil, ignition control module, new wires, new plugs in hope of fixing the problem, other than that the car ran great. Well when I put in the new opti I used some grease so maybe they wont disintegrate too soon.
