Need help on LT1 twin turbo setup

I have A 1994 Camaro that I fixing up and I really want twin turbos on it. I just want to know what should I do to the motor to handle about 30lb of boost or if I should just buy a new motor.

a full race prepped block, or aftermarket (dart, etc)
billet 4-bolt main cap conversion
forged crank
billet rods
great pistons
turbo cam
heads/intake to get the most out of the turbos
custom twin turbo headers
turbos
downpipes
wastegates
intercooler and plumbing
boost controller
major fuel system upgrades
injectors
serious drive line upgrades (differential, trans, etc)
lots and lots of tuning

basically, every component fo the driveline will have to be upgraded and/or replaced. 30psi with twin turbos is by no means an inexpesive or simple proposition. i know this first hand, as right now i am building a twin turbo motor that should easily make 1500hp.

this, of course, is just my opinion on the matter. good luck with your project.

You know, of all the very high hp combo's out there (up to 1200 rwhp), I have never heard of anyone running over 30 psi on a v-8. I'm sure they exist, but pretty much anything slower than 8.00 in the quarter doesn't run over 30 psi. Something tells me you don't yet fully understand what you're getting into. Start out at 5 - 6 psi and I think you'll re-adjust your goals.

agreed... 30 psi on a TT V8 is going to be rediculous... notice 4 bangers are making anywhere from 5-700whp with 30psi... so just some stupid math here... double that for a V8 = unneccessary

Well on top of that fact you hav no idea what you are getting yourself into. You would be surprised at how much that post revealed your knowledge on what you are asking for.

Listen to engineermike.. he knows his stuff...

Read a lot. READ A TON! Even if you start at something small like 6 psi on a stock motor, you must read and learn. The only way you can get what your asking for now with your current state of knowledge, is to drop the car off with a blank check at a reputable shop. Then you will most likely kill yourself when you get the car back.

Stick to bolt-ons.

Beyond the Budget

Everyone is correct in there assesment.

How about telling him that this kind of setup done properly would run 35 to 50 thou to build!

I knew a guy who built one (third Gen) and ran 300mph at the Bonnaville Salt Flats. Yep it is nothing more than a race motor.

Cheers

It doesnt matter how many turbos you have. If you have each turbo running a 10lb spring that dont mean you have 20psi. You still only have 10psi total.

Sounds like you do not need to be getting into the world of boost. Do some more research.

You guys a brutal!!! Haha

In reality, TT's are great, but can be much more complicated then a single. Forget boost level (psi) for a moment, what are your goals for the car (hp wise or track times wise).

Even at 18psi - look at putting $30,000 into the car, assuming you do a good chunk of the work yourself, and *all* the installation labor.

If you're going to bragging rights "I've got a Twin Turbo such and such with 30 psi", thats one thing. If you want a drag car, thats another.
