I'd gladly take an F-1R over a YSi if I ever ran a belt-driven setup again. Maybe I'm just crazy like that.

Mong, that's a fair response but try this. Step back, and pretend you are a shop. How will you go about selecting a blower head unit for a new customer. Let's say you want to select a head unit based on the results that folks have had in the say last five years. If that's the case why would you select an F1?
I've given the Vortech YS/YSi examples.
Now, would I do an F1R? If I was building a motor that buzzed 8500 rpms like Ronnie Duke's I might consider it but I would also look into the Vortech X and XX Trim blower of which I know nothing about. I just know the F1R needs rpms that my 7200 red limit hydraulic LS6 motor can't handle.
I went thru this exact same process a year ago this month... what blower head unit to get. I found 10 examples of why to get a YS, and one example of why to get an F1R. And no examples supporting the F1.
And of those examples I think most of them were cogged in the end. But I can give 6-7 additional examples of Renegade NMRA Mustangs running 8.89-9.20 with an YS/YSi 8 rib setup at 3300 raceweight in addition to the LT1 examples I gave.

Sorry to burst your bubble but the F1 has not been out for 5 years. You are comparing a blower the (YS-Trim) that has been out for a while and an F1 which has been out for 2 years (if that).
we have a F1R on a 87 Formula. it's a 406,doesnt go above 7300rpm. we chose the F1R over the YS for a few reason's,some of them included the YS wouldnt make the target power goals without overspinning the hell out of it (and yes NMRA cars spin the YS to extreme's,and they come apart). And the YS didnt flow enough air for our goals.
the F1r has wroked great,we have much less belt issues then with the old T trim, both setup's are cog. This is partially due to ATI's better internal stepup ratio allowing a larger blower pulley for more belt wrap.
It is a street car, passes inspection blah blah, will run around on 93 all day.
It has performed well, best to date is 9.27@151 with a spinning 1.46 60',it now has a transbrake and different gears outback.Car weight is 3570ish w/driver.

You are right the YS trim is alot more popular and people are having great results with that blower. Unfortunately I am not a big dog so I am not a good representation of a person running an F1 to it's potential. RsKrause is making great power out of his blower and is running 10 teens. He is also running a full weight car (over 4000 lbs).

I definitely don't want to get in a Vortech v. ATI pissing match. As far as I can tell there isn't a lot to choose between them. I have no emotional attachement to my blower at all! Too bad we can't get compressor maps from P'charger. They say that once their lawsuit with Vortech is resolved they will release them.
