How much power?

With a basic bolt on lt1 and 6# boost off a "cheaper" SC kit? How much is average?

maybe north of 400rwhp but I would worry about the stock block than. How many miles are on it?

+1 for RealQuick

It's kind of a moot point though since it will probably not run longer than a year. Stock LT1 bottom ends are not made for boost. I gambled and lost after 10 months, then built a 383.

Showed 4psi on the gauge. I didn't blow a piston through my oil pan, I blew a head gasket and sucked coolant into my oil. The most common failure of a boosted LT1 is a failed piston ring land. I would suggest reading https://www.camaroz28.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=566122 if you haven't already. It's a great place to get started. I would also recommend staying away from "cheaper" superchargers as they are limited in what they can be upgraded for and are usually not as reliable. I blew up my motor with a Powerdyne and re used it after I built the new motor. I've had my motor running about a year and a half and I'm already pricing out another forced induction setup to make more power. Hope this helps

you can make more power safer NA. A le3 setup, or AI's 200cc heads will do way better than 4-6psi of boost. Especially non intercooled.

Pretty much every guy in this section will tell you to rebuild it first. Theres a reason for it.

I was at 6-7psi on stock motor, with headers no cats and magnaflow exhaust, with 1.6 ratio rockers that's it and I estimate I was at ~425-450hp.

I did some tuning myself, basically just reduced timing to avoid the spark knock which kills the stock pistons

Took it all apart when I took the heads off the get ported, bottom end looked brand new other than some carbon buildup... 115,000 miles.

my car back in '01:

70k motor with Hooker shorties and a 4.5 PSI Powerdyne kit.
Zero PCM tuning, stock injectors, etc. Did run boost timing retard.

340rwhp/372rwtq through a 6spd with 4.10s. Saw about 5psi on gauge.

Stepped up to 6psi pulley and felt a noticeable increase in power, probably 30-40rwhp. Saw 6.5psi on gauge.

Then knock sensor went bad I guess, stopped pulling timing, and ringlands went south. Toasted my 70k factory stock shortblock that ran a 13.3 @ 106 mph before the supercharger.
