its official, I'm joining the ranks of the boosted

talked to Lonnie this evening and he's working up a price for me for a universal Procharger F-1 kit. haven't decided on which F-1 model, but getting race BOV, LT1 crank spacer and pulley, pullies for 10 and 15#, and I'll build my own intercooler setup. I'll also be getting a set of 85# injectors, a Versafueler, and a dual-intank setup from him so the fuel system should be good to go.

All of this is going on:
-stock block, bored/honed/clearanced
-VRE Victory Lane rotating assembly
-Ai ported Trickflow heads/LT1 intake with 58mm BBK
-Ai blower cam and hydraulic roller valvetrain
-Hawks/Stainless Works 1-3/4" longtube headers
-custom y-pipe into Muffled 4"
-T-56 with upgraded 6SpeedsInc. synchros
-reusing Spec Stage 3
-strengthened BW 9-bolt rear with 3.27 gears

Looking to pulley for 15# not going anywhere near a track though until I can get a 9" or 12-bolt, hopefully over the Christmas holiday, so track times will be quite a ways off, but I'll be getting a full dyno tune at G-Force Performance in Pearland, TX. I'm still waiting on heads/intake/cam to arrive from Ai, once those do I'll be taking them by G&G Performance who's building up the shortblock currently. Hope to have the fully-assembled engine back in the shop in 2 weeks. then I just have to get it in the car and everything installed within 3 weeks to drive it back to school with me

I like everything about your setup except the versafueler and 83pd injectors. You could buy 60 pd mototrons and run them off the stock computer and spend the extra money on an alky injection kit.

Anyway, nice setup. I wish I would have done it right the first time like you apparently are doing. I bought a procharger kit and it was too small for my needs and ended up replacing about every piece in it except for the pullies and mounts.

are the 60# injectors big enough? I was under the impression I would be well past what they could support. If I can get away with that I'd definitely do the meth setup instead, especially with the high temps down here during the summer.

I'm pretty close to 600RWHP and I had too much fuel with 60 pders and my alkycontrol. I had to tune my wot vs rpm table down 40 points when I installed the alkycontrol. The 60's were enough injector even without alky. So I would say my fuel system is not even close to being maxed out! The 60's are known for their good street manners, spray pattern, and idle qualities. Ask Lonnie about them. Although he may shoot me for steering you away from the Versafueler.

will do when I talk to him again. I'll bring it up with him as I have some other questions as well. what fuel pressure are you running?

I have stock fuel lines, rails, FP regulater, and a dual walbro like Lonnies setup. Stock fuel pressure also. Welcome to the club. Try to take it easy on the boost to start with because it is very addictive.

well huh. I'll definitely have to talk to lonnie about that. although I'll be pushing a *bit* more power

yeah, I was already thinking about race gas and a larger pulley at Christmas break and cooler air

I'm interested to see what kind of numbers you can put down with those AI trickflows. I have been nothing but pleased with my LT1 street ported heads. The low end torque is amazing. I'm leaving alot of HP on the table by using a streetable cam and not spinning it so high.

Procharger F-1 is on order with Lonnie

Now I just have to wait for it and the rest of my engine parts to get here

so I know I'm going to open up a can of worms with this, but I'm having a hard time deciding if I want to go ahead and intercool it or just run meth/water injection.

I decided against getting an intercooled kit because I didn't care for the Procharger intercoolers and figured I could put together my own for cheaper. Now that I've started looking around, I'm thining about completely doing away with the intercooler because it saves me from:

-moving the battery to the rear
-removing the washer bottle
-moving my powersteering reservoir
-modifying my hood latch bracketry
-cutting a hole in my grill and crash bar
-worrying about radiator and a/c condenser effectiveness

I'm removing the charcoal caniser (mounted opposite the battery on 3rd gens) and that would make the perfect mounting place for a large methanol/water tank. Until I actually get the system and can mock up the head unit and bracket, I won't know for sure if I'll have to move or modify my washer bottle, but I think that's the only area of concern going with just the water injection.

decisions, decisions. just "thinking" out loud here

People have made some great numbers with running just a water/alcohol injection kit and I certainly wouldn't be afraid to go the route of wate/alcohol injection only. I would just make sure the kit is on of the more "high end" set-ups to insure you are getting quality parts AND be certain to monitor the level in the reservoir on a regular basis so as not to run out of water/methanol.

I am curious about what F-1 Procharger system Lonnie has ordered for you. Is it for the L98 motor or for the Lt-1 motor or neither? I know there are some issues you run into when installing an LT-1 in a 3rd gen. Ao I can imagine the Procharger will be a tight fit!

For now I'm researching the various meth. kits available from Snow Performance, LS1Injection, and Alkycontrol. they all seem to be similar and provide the same components.

As far as the supercharger kit, we finally decided on going with a universal 12-rib EFI SBC kit without intercooler, adding the LT1 crank pulley and spacer. I have access to a machine shop and will modify the ATI head unit bracket as necessary to correct for bolt hole location and pulley spacing. hope to have the car running by the end of August and will take plenty of photos along the way as I'm not sure anyone else has been able to Procharge an LT1 in a 3rd gen before. none that I'm aware of anyway.
