How do you drive?

Guys, how are you driving your car at the track?

What tires are you using?

The reason why I ask is because on the 10# aftercooled setup I can launch the car pretty good (2.0's on street tires) but it would start spinning the tires at about 5k in first..

Now that the car has 15#'s it does the same thing in second from 4000rpm and up. It will even do it with less than full throttle on the street from about 45+ which is my next question..

How are you behaving on the street with 500+rwhp?

This is why some people will say that ">xxx hp is useless on the street". You can't really hook up that much hp in the lower gears once the boost really kicks in. When I had a T56 if the nitrous were on it would spin pretty good at 85-100mph in 4th gear. Quite a "thrill" if you weren't ready for it.

Better tires. Drag radials at least.

Re: How do you drive?

yes it all depends on how the car is setup..I think mine is setup pretty good. In warmer weather I can launch my car from a dig and not have problems baking the tires

Well, you must have some sort of very sophisticated boost controller. How do you do it?

Hence the reason I have two Z/28's

I have a set of Nitto Drag Radials that I'm using for street tires on my 94 (had them as drag tires on my old setup and converted them as full time street tires as the Goodyears were dead) and I raced it once on those and it was a waste of time...I couldn't go full throttle till about 80 mph and ran high 11's at 128, went back up two days later with my Hoosier QTP's and was running low 10's @ 135
