Remember to take into consideration of the pressure rating when comparing fans. For example a 16" Spall straight blade fan will flow 2360cfm free flow & 510cfm @ 1" pressure drop.

Straight blades also flow better but are noisier.

Sorry, what does that mean? In your opinion, will the dual 12" flex-a-lites out perform the stock fans?

Thanks

Tony,
Thanks for the pics...That set-up looks sweet. Do you have the car running yet. Do you notice if the new fans make a difference in traffic?

My car runs great on the highway but it does get hot in traffic eventhough both fans are programmed to come on at ~180* but when moving about 70MPH, the car is cool. So I belive a fan upgrade may be in my future. Please let me know if you notice any difference with the new fans.

Thanks,
Claude

One thing I noticed when I pulled the stock fans were that they were individual fans/shrouds that were bolted to the stock dual fan shroud. I need to find out if the fan can be flipped and the wiring reversed on the stock fans. If so, one of them would make a good pusher for the front of the radiator and wouldn't cost anything. You can also get a single fan version of the thin flex-a-lite for ~$100 that's a pusher. That would probably be pretty good bang for the buch and have enough room to fit. It would take some test fitting, but you could probably even get one of the 16" pushers up front.

The engine is still out waiting for the crank to be double keyed. It should be back today. I busted my fluid damper at the keyway with my cog setup...

I've got a standard ATI damper coming in this morning and I'm going back to the 12-rib setup until I can upgrade to the mondo ATI crank hub.

Wait, so the flex-a-lite fans flow 800x2 or 1600cfm...cost $250

and two people say the know the stock fans from 1800cfm and cost $0

Why are people doing this again??

The 220 is rated at 2500 cfm. Don't know if it's real numbers or not. I also don't know if the stock fans are really 1800. I can't get confirmation on that. So we'll just have to see...

The main reason is the flex-a-lite is only 2 1/4" deep. The stock fan setup with the motor is over 6" deep. With the stock fan setup you have major problems running the Meziere HD electric waterpump. I've also got a giant supercharger pulley setup on the front of my engine that needs maintenance (belts, adjustment, etc...) The extra space is worth it's weight in gold... or 200 bills in the case of the 220s...

Did you ever do this setup? Also do you think a pusher and puller fan will do better? I have a Becool radiator,HD Mezerie, and dual flexalite fans and still have problems in hot weather. In traffic only though. It will somewhat cool back down going down the road.

From what I've heard, the pusher will help when your sitting in traffic, but may actually restrict flow at highway speeds. Find that a little hard to buy though...

I am using two of these from Proform: http://www.proformparts.com/parts/67012.html Cost ~$110 and mounted up nice. Working fine so far, but I never had a cooling problem in the first place and just needed more room.

I've been having overheating problems also so today I removed my ac condensor and cleaned out all of the crap. It is amazing how much crap gets between your condenser and the radiator I think that was the majority of my problem. I'm going to leave the condensor out for now as I don't use AC. I went for a ride after removal and cleaning and it stayed around 180 just like it is supposed to. That is a miracle! before If I got caught in traffic it would go sky high and just keep going.

I would like to know too

THe dual spals are 275+ shipping.. those look nice and are very slim!!

As it looks like the 220 are the dual ones... hence why everything is double...
