I have been seeing some 190+ IAT's though, I hope the aftercooler help lower the IAT and water temps.
This is a good point- on the RX7, I angled the hood up in the rear (a little hard to do, since it opened from the rear) to help the hot air get out.

Perma-Cool fans arrived today!

Pardon to pun, but this looks to be a really cool setup. I added a page to my website about this install. Check it out & let me know what you think.

The trick appears to be getting the Perma-Cool fans in the shroud, but once this was done, the installed depth dropped from like 4.5" (stock fans) to 1.5" . They seem to pull a lot of air- I ran each one on the shroud vs. the stock fan and did not notice any big difference.

So you think the stock units flow enough air?

I thought this was going to be a huge improvement.

It is really hard to tell- I was working in a hot garage when I did this today, so any air flow was a welcome relief . They both pulled a lot of air, so I guess the only way to tell the difference will be to try 'em out. I think the key improvement will be the shorter installed depth for those with the HD electric pump.

I got my pressure plate bolts today as well, and have reinstalled the T56. I'm going to give the driveline a once-over tomorrow and then it will be time to put it back in the car. The next headache will be the blower & IC plumbing...

Nice job! If the flex-a-lites hadn't worked so well for me, I'd be doing this. Good luck with the rest of the project.

Thumbs up Re: dual spal 11" fans?

I ran the motor today for the first time, the car is still on jackstands & the AC is not yet charged, but I never saw the coolant temp go much past 185 (this is a brand new motor that has not yet broken in) and it fell back well below this point after a few minutes with the fans on (I'm running 50/50 Prestone Dexcool with reverse-osmosis water & a bottle of water wetter). All 3 fans were running at that point- I wired the dual 12" fans to the stock primary (driver side) connector, and the front pusher fan to the stock secondary connector.

It will be a while before I have everythning put back together enough for a road test, but I will update the thread at that time.

Re: dual spal 11" fans?

I charged the AC today and did a lot of idling inside the garage (ambient temp over 90) with the hood up. Water went up to just under 210 & oil (out of cooler) to 165. I still need to fine tune the AC, as my center vent temp was 70 degrees (in same garage my Bonneville was 60).

There may well be airflow issues here due to the path being intercooler-oil cooler-condenser-radiator, although some under bumper air at speed will bypass the IC since it is behind the bumper reinforcement. I have opened up the bumper reinforcement where the fog lamps went, but this will mostly duct air to the IC.

The Be Cool radiator is huge. I put over 4 gallons of coolant/water into the system.

Re: dual spal 11" fans?

I never took any detailed pics of the Be Cool unit, here is the only one I can find:

http://memimage.cardomain.com/member...7_103_full.jpg

The part # is 62028 for the auto trans, and 60028 for the manual trans. Mine was a "blem", so I'm not sure if it is any different than the regular ones, although I think it is because it has two mounting rods on the bottom whereas the stock unit had one (I had to drill an extra hole in the radiator support on the driver's side & put a rubber grommet in there).

Re: dual spal 11" fans?

The results are in- same problem as with the RX7- it gets too hot . I road tested it this morning & it got to 242 degrees on PCMCOMM by the time I brought it in. Gauge temp was not in the red, but it was boiling over.

I think the problem lies in the FMIC, I will have to engineer a way to use the ATI 2 core so as to open up the front end for air.

or try to use some sort of scoop to redirect the air.

Re: dual spal 11" fans?

As with everything else on this car, there is no room! I have the foglight areas opened up w/ 5" hoses, but they mainly direct air to the ends of the IC. I'm going to have to have the mounting tabs fixed on my 2 core so I can use it. I noticed the bost only went up to about 2 psi in 3rd gear (I'm not really running the motor hard yet) so I think the 2 core will do OK for this application.
