Re: ATI new inlet tube

I just had my recirculating hose pop off at the MAF end and the car completely discomboblulated. It's been pouring rain here in California since last year and trying to isolate this problem from the side of the road in drenching downpours does not lend itself to quality and proper trouble assessments. Of course, once it was reinserted into its little hole... , the car is now normal again.

I can't wait to move the MAF to the top of the engine. Why in the world did ATI design this system in a closed manner (behind the MAF) in the first place?

Re: ATI new inlet tube

I'll try and get pics of my install tomorrow. THe filter now sits under the car right up behind the driver side intercooler's black plastic air deflector. I hope it can get some decient air flow there. As for the two barbed nipples, I got a short vacume hose and connected them. As I said before, my maf is already in the stock location.

BTW, what is the bypass hose / valve thing that you guys are talking about?

Re: ATI new inlet tube

I just got the new setup as well. It looks alot better than the old design. When I called ATI they said the two barbs were for a 97+ car. For my 95 I use one for the opti and plug the other one. In the new manual they sent, they blow the bypass valve to the atmosphere with a filter on the end. Does anyone know where I can get this filter other than ATI? Thanks guys....John

Please do... we've been waiting months for this! Also did you see any increase in psi?

Re: ATI new inlet tube

Here are a few pictures I took on saturday.

http://community.webshots.com/album/549589179fUZDDj

I didn't notice too much of a difference when driving. I still yet to install my boost gauge, so I don't know if there was a difference in PSI. The tube fits great, but it was really hard getting pictures of the peice the connects directly to the blower.

Thanks for the pics! From the looks of it the filter is so low that it'll suck up water or get knocked off the tube if you run over something! Geez! There has to be a way to move that filter somwhere else safer.

I also noticed that you're using the stock intake elbow? Why is that?

Re: ATI new inlet tube

Yea the filter sits pretty low and will definately suck up some water if I go through a puddle, but I don't drive the car in the rain anymore. I purchased the kit used from someone online and it turns out i'm missing a few peices. I was missing the elbow from the throttle body so Mike from Rapid Motorsports reused the stock elbow. I'm thinking about replacing the stock elbow with the vortech or trickflow one.

Also, from what I understand there is a plastic guard that goes around it or something, I think xxsaint69xx is referring to it. I'd like to see what it looks like.

I'm thinking that I could always turn that 90 deg rubber elbow the other way so it hides the filter behind the main air dam...but I don't know how much safer it would be there.

What does the temp sensor look like? Is it the sensor that goes in the elbow by the throttle body?

I do regret buying the kit used...the money I saved was spent buying and overnighting the parts that were missing!
