I guess it couldn't hurt but some of the metal in your engine is not iron based and therefore won't be captured by a magnet; your bearings are made of brass based metal.

I use something similar, basically 'cause it was laying around the garage. My dad used it on his Harleys a while back.

Not sure if would pay those prices though. You could just slap a real strong magnet on there and it shouldn't move.

Neodynium-Iron-Boron magnets. I usually put them on the outside of a filter, pan, or cover. They will attract some filings over time. Is the big & expensive filtermag thing worth it? Hard to tell.
