Has anyone put 1/2" head studs on their car? If so how much did the machine shop charge to do the conversion?

I don't see much upside and there is a big downside. One place blocks are known to fail is between the head bolt holes and the water passages. This will be much more likely if the head bolt holes were enlarged. There just isn't enough metal there.
