I'd look into some free air subs of the same size. The only one I can think of is Kicker since I've seen one in a 99 Z before. Look for a member name banddirector

the bigger the size of the speaker, the better it will handle low frequency signals.
however, i have never had any luck whatsoever with powering speakers with a head unit. no matter the speaker, it ended up blowing due to the poor amount of power/true quality that the internal amp of most head units have.
even worse is coaxial speakers running off the head unit. to me, this is a recipe for disaster. get ready to buy some new speakers.... at least thats how its gone for me.
boston mids are very sturdy.
infinity are not however.....
rockford no
mtx, no,
polk maybe
kenwood no
i would recommend checking out boston... they do nothing but impress me with their quality and price

The best bang for the buck rears is to just leave them out totally. Better imaging without them.

Here I am! I run Kicker F6.5C mid-bass (Kicker classifies them as 6.75" subs) in my back seat location...however, there's no way HU power alone can push them. I'm sending them 50 watts RMS each of Orion power.
You can take a look at the link in my sig.

Unfortunately, Kicker stopped making the F6.5C's over a year or so ago. I bought mine last summer directly from Kicker. Give them a call and see if they can help you...they had a lot of left-over stock when I called and I think I paid around $95 including shipping for the pair. They usually retail for around $70-$80 each if you find a dealer that still has them or thinks they can still get them...many of whom still can.
If Kicker can't help you, they're usually some on eBay. Another similar speaker is the Image Dynamic IDQ6, but ID also stopped making the IDQ6 within the past couple of months...there's just not a huge enough demand for a 6.5"S sub or mid-bass...I don't know why, I LOVE mine!
There's also a guy selling a set of Kicker F6.5C's over at www.ls1.com. I don't know him, and he is a new member, but here's a direct link to his post:

Good luck!
