side exit pipes
Yeah, I have...but it looks like you'd have to put a reverse hump in the pipe in order to clear the axle at full droop, and that would seriously kill ground clearance. Being that my car will eventually see roads all over the country, I'm concerned about having pipes hanging that low.
I'm going to be the test car for the local shop who did my 3" stainless TDs...He wants to go out the side behind the door using custom fabbed stainless rectangle tips...If it looks half as good as his dumped version, then I'll be thrilled...

Side exit is going to be loud just like dumps. Your cabin has an opening to the side of the rear seat that'll funnel the noise inside.
There is no way that under the door pipes can be mounted to the car without looking goofy as hell. All the 'Vettes that pipes could be mounted to had a really tall door sill, allowing the pipes to be mounted higher up on the body.
As far as loud, the loudness isn't what bothers me, it's the resonance. I've had cars with unmuffled side pipes before, and they don't resonate anywhere near what under car muffled dumps do. Drone/resonance != loud.
