Who has done a 10-bolt buildup?

OK, this question is for those of you who have done buildups on your stock 10-bolt rears--by that I mean you have a solid spacer, support cover, tube brace and welded the tubes and so forth.

So how has this setup worked out for you guys? Which gear ratio did you go with? Did you upgrade the axles and/or carrier? DRs or slicks? Any 60' times?

I'm trying to decide whether to build the stock rear or just bite the bullet and get a 9" or S60. I would be doing 4.10s with an LS1 Torsen plus everything mentioned above. I don't foresee that this car will ever have more than around 430rwhp.

I built one for my A4 car and ran 1.5 60s and low 11s with a 3.42 gear with no problems at all.

But with an M6 I wouldn't waste my money on a stock rear. Spend it on a 12 bolt, 9'', or S60.

Read these articles.... $1,690 invested and its only good for 450HP on an automatic, and not recommended for an M6.
