how fast can u go on a posi before it becomes so unreliable that u have to put in a locker or spool ?

im running measly high 11s and my posi is alreayd shot (12 bolt strange posi)

its a toss up between rebuilding the posi or putting a spool in there

I am currently running 11.20's on my Eaton in a Moser 12 bolt with no problems. The spray went back on the car this week and I will be running well in to the 10's and hopefully 9's. We'll see how well it stands up after those passes.

The real question is do you need a posi? Does the car see enough street time to make the posi rebuild worth it? If not the spool is the cheaper fix.

You might have to use higher pressure springs in the posi unit. I know the Eaton uses 400 lbs stock. You can get 800 pound units, but it will create some chatter with street use.

I have the Eaton 800 # unit and there is no chatter in mine.

I know George Baxter ran his 3,900# 30th SS convertible to the mid-9's on a Strange 12-bolt, with the Strange "super strength" posi. Then he switched to a Moser 9-inch with a spool. I also know he burned up the clutches of his "standard" Strange posi at about the 750HP level.

I killed my posi the first season. Kevlar clutches let go.

I am now running my eaton with the old school steel clutch pack and shimmed 800Lbs springs. it drives real nice and launches real straight

I have heard of many people fragging both the standard Strage posi and HD strange.
