1998 Z28 rear end in a 1999 V6 Camaro
We have a 1999 V6 Camaro with a bad rear end. I have found a used 1998 Z28 posi rear end (3.42 posi complete newer brakes).
Will this fit? Are there any considerations/items to look at?

Physically, it's a direct bolt in.
The question you need to look at is if both cars had the same ABS or ABS+TCS systems. A car with only ABS has a single rear wheel speed sensor on top of the diff housing, a large reluctor gear on the differential, and a single brake line running to the back of the car. An ABS+TCS car has a wheel speed sensor on the backing plate for the axle on each side of the car, a reluctor gear on each rear axle, and dual brake lines to the rear of the car.
I would also be concerned as to whether there is a different bias applied to the rear brakes depending on whether they are disc or drum (not sure when the V6 went to all discs).
Finally, if the rear axle ratio is different, the new gear ratio has to be programmed into the PCM, or the speedometer/odometer will read incorrectly.

V6s' started 4 wheel disc in 1998.
Is your 1999 V6 vehicle standard or have the V6 performance package consisting of positraction and a 3.42 geared rear. 3.08 non-posi was the standard.
Does your 1999 V6 vehicle have ABS only OR ABS & traction control,as referred to previous post.
Does the 1998 rearend have the sensor on top of rear or one sensor at each brake backing plate,as referred to in previous post.
the 2 previous questions will answer useabilty of the 1998 rearend.
If the 1999 is ABS only and the 1998 is ABS only-perfect
If the 1999 is ABS & TC and the 1998 is ABS & TC-perfect
If the 1999 is ABS & TC and the 1998 is ABS only-axles and backing plates from the 99 are gonna be required to be installed in the 98. Simple swap over.
If the 1999 is ABS only and the 1998 is ABS & TC-major problem.
