There are companies that make 12 bolts to fit fbodies specifically. They are not the same as ford 9 inches. 9 inches have 3% more power loss than a 12 bolt, and 12 bolts are not as easy to change gears on. Injuneer has a site that has some useful info on 12 bolts.

Strange made very good 12 bolts.I heard more problem coming from moser.

They come fully tested and assembled. The Moser come in parts so you need to assembled it.

Also the torque mount is just like a stocker. The t/a mount is not as good on a moser.

I remember reading Inuneer reply about the discussion : 9 " vs 12 bolts.

The 12 bolts is lighter, have less power loss and for 1000hp or lower a 12 bolts is perfect. If you plan on going over 1000hp go with a 9"

You can have a Strange 12 bolts with hd posi(14 clucth),33 splines all mounted for around 2400$ but if you wait for sale you could have it for around 2200$(i paid mine 2169.99$ from T-Byrne Motorsport).

The 12-bolt is physically identical to the stock 10-bolt, except for the beefier gears/carrier/axles/bearings/housing. The Strange is a direct bolt-in..... no modifications of any kind, compared to the stock rear.

I installed a Moser 12. Had to fab a bracket to hold the brake line. You must press on the axle shaft retainers. I ended up with lock-tite (red) on the torgue arm bolts, they can get loose. Had to beat the body back a little (tunnel) due to T/A (Random) clearance. It came with 1350 U-jt so I purchased a new a drive shaft. The breather must be installed high otherwise oil may exit. Other than that, it's been working great. Went with the Tru-trac diff.
