just like the title says, ive been under the hood of my car a lot recently cause its bein a pita. everytime i open the hood the trans fluid dipstick is stickin out about 4"... and yeah i push it the rest of the way back in everytime i catch it. checked the vent tube and its not pinched off or anything.. anyone else had this problem or know what else might cause it??

 

Very common problem. this is why GM went to the locking dipstick.

Mine (when stock) would always pop out about an inch. Doesn't do it with my CPT tranny though.

What is the harm if it pops out and it stays out for a while? About someone answered this question. I asked like 3x's already but got nothing.

 

well it will then allow debris to enter the trans pan.. it's best to upgrade to a locking stick like mentioned above to further prevent this from happening...

 

What's the part number for it? I ordered a TCI dipstick and it was the wrong size. Im told its for a LS1.
