TH400 swap

TH400 swap

i have a 1980 camaro and i was wondering if i swap a TH400 transmission into it if i could just put on a new u-joint and a TH400 yoke and be good to go? it has a TH350 in it now but i have a TH400 in my garage so why not swap it

Yeah, you would have to match up the yoke, if needed and check for proper the length of the driveshaft.

You will need a new, shorter DS. The tranny mount may need to be modified. If you don't need the extra strength of the 400, don't do it. The 400 is heavier and the first gear is slightly taller.
