T-56 Transmission Fluid?

Hello everyone, I am inquiring about the best type of transmission fluid you can use in a T-56 Trans.
I need to change my fluid and want to put the absolute best I can in it.
On the trans case it says only use Drexon or something like that.
I'm wondering if there are better alternatives.

Thanks!

Re: T-56 Transmission Fluid?

The Borg-Warner/Tremec (manufacturer) recommendation is Dexron III ATF.

From the Tremec website FAQ:

Q: Why not use a synthetic fluid?

A: Some brands of synthetic fluid contain powerful detergents and additives that can prove harmful to your transmission's synchronizers. While many synthetic fluids perform very well, in most cases, we do not recommend their use. Furthermore, they may void your warranty. For peace of mind, remember that TREMEC conducts all of its OEM validation testing using conventional fluids without issue.

Question Re: T-56 Transmission Fluid?

The above info is not clear as it refers to automatic TREMECs.

What is the best trans ATF for the T56 Manual 6 speed?

Same issue about synthetic?

Re: T-56 Transmission Fluid?

The Tremec FAQ linked above is SPECIFIC to the Borg Warner and Tremec T56 6-speed MANUAL transmission. With regard to synthetic ATF they SPECIFICALLY state that it can damage the synchros.

How did you determine that info applies only to Tremec automatics?
