T -56 problem

I just bought a 96 Z-28 with a T-56 and 3rd jumps out of gear then after the first time I really got on da gas n shifted hard into 2nd gear it started to make a gear noise not grinding bit noisy gears and now 2nd gear grinds ever time I shift onto it either downshifting or going from 1st to 2nd ... does anybody know what my problem could be ?

Welcome to CamaroZ28.com!!

"New Member Intro" isn't the best place for tech questions. Let's copy this to "Drivetrain".

Re: T -56 problem

Popping out of gear is typically caused by:
-damaged synchros
-damaged blocker rings
-shift forks loose on rail or damaged

Grinding gears typically caused by:
-Bent or worn shift forks
-damaged synchros
-pilot bearing binding or worn

Shoebox has an online copy of the T56 service manual:

hey buddy mine seemed to be doing the same thing, but mine doesnt pop outa 3rd gear, or get noisy when im shifting to 1st 2nd etc, but only when im downshifting to slow down only....? Because i took off fast when into all the gears up to 5th and all the shifts are smooth and great, but usually if i baby the shifter to downshift to slow down i dont get noisy gears. Fred thats what i meant on my thread of the spinning sound that i heard. im sorry i didnt explain it well
