Shattered Input Drum??

I just got back from my local tranny shop to look at my internals on my tranny. Come to find a shattered input drum and the input shaft had metal pieces missing as well on the end. Any ideas on how this could have happened and what parts to use on a rebuild. The guy working on the tranny has never seen this before on the 4160e transmission. Any thoughts?

Is your Vigilante a multi disc converter? Are you locking the converter at WOT?

It is a single disc converter and the computer should be locking the converter at WOT.

There could be any of several reasons, The drum could have just been weak and gave way, Theres the possibility that your PCM is allowing lockup during shifts. This is very hard on the drum regardless of throttle position, But its likely the first scenario. I would replace the drum and shaft and then have your tuner set up so your car can only lock the converter clutch in 4th gear above 40 mph and never at WOT .
