Noob question
So I'm allowed 1 noob question a week right? So... does a stock 1993 z28 have a limited slip differential? Just out of curiosity when did they switch from limited slip differentials to traction control? 1996? The only information I found was in my chiltons manual. It said there was suppose to be some tag on the axle cover plate. I looked under my car last night and all I could see was rust and no tags anywhere. I've searched the net and surprisingly there is not really any information.

ALL 4th Gen (93-02) V8 F-Bodys have a limited slip differential. There is no tag on the differential. Look for RPO code "G80" on the build code tag.
Traction control (RPO "NW9") was made available as an option starting in 1995. It does not replace the limited slip differential. In simple terms, it can cut power and apply brakes to keep the wheels from slipping. Not the things you want to do when attempting wide open throttle acceleration. Typically, you turn traction control ("TCS" in the Firebirds, "ASR" in the Camaors) off when you race.
