New Driveshaft--U-joint Strap?

Hello all,

I just bought a new SLP "Heavy Duty" driveshaft from LMPerformance. First off, it looks suspiciously like the stock driveshaft and has a Three River sticker on it. I hope it's balanced well (though I fear it might not be).

The rear u-joint has a strap across it that I think is only there to hold the endcaps in place for shipping, but it's held in under the spring clips. Is this something I should remove or does it serve a purpose? I've attached a picture below. Thanks for the help!

All that strap is for is to keep the bearing cups retained during handling and shipment, you can discard it if you would like. Just be cautious as to not effect or contaminate the grease inside the bearing cups because they are not greasable.

The Three Rivers sticker that you see is the plant location where the driveshaft was manufactured, along with other service driveshafts for the F-body.

Thanks, that's what I figured but I wasn't sure. I'll just take it out then.
