Worst Dyno Day Ever!!!
today sucked ***** to put it lightly. went to the local dyno day and waited my turn. finally after a few hours im up. put the car on the roller and strapped it in. the operator got it rolling and it sounded like the car was having some trouble just spinning the barrels. got it to 4th and went wot. then the rear brake rotors start glowing and smoking and sparking. then they almost catch on fire. cut it off and check everything. apparently they wrapped the strap around the rear axle and some brake line of some sort and when they tightened it down it clamped the rear brakes. well they get the strap readjusted and go for another run. well i think this is the worst part, as it only pulled 220 hp and 250 tq. i have a bad miss becuase of messed up plug wires but i never thought it would cause that big of a hp drop. the shop manager was cool and turned both my rotors and installed new high performance brake pads for free. im still depressed that the hp numbers were so low. i can see lots of arcing at night on various wires. thursday its going to a shop to get better wires put on. just a reminder to anyone, make sure they strap your car in right before they run the dyno.
ROTFLMAO
Sorry to laugh, but you provided a graphic pic of what was happening. Smoking brakes; glowing red!
Some dyno shops employ some really inexperienced clowns to do the grunt work. The stuff like this happens.
The story reminded me of the time they strapped a bud of mine down and somehow unplugged the wire to his fuel pump. It took us an hour of checking things before it was discovered.
I hope the operator got your brakes redone and working properly again. Get those plug wires replaced and ask the dyno man for some free pulls.

Not to flame you, but seriously, what would make you think that the car would make good numbers if you can SEE the wires arcing? Did you think it would fix itself magically? I know the sarcasm isn't needed, but come on. I realize that LT1s aren't low on power, its just that no one makes sure they are in their best shape all the time.

they did turn my rotors and install new brake pads so im not mad at them or anything. and i had it dyno'd running like **** so i could install new plugs and wires and say they gave me 75hp!!
Man, I can't believe that happened. That really sucks. I'm glad those guys got it fixed for you, sounds like they did the right thing by doing that. I must have left right before you went up, I'm sorry I missed that!
I think I'm having the same problems with wires too, that's why I didn't dyno today. Hopefully next week with the new opti, wires, and plugs I'll be good.

Dang man you really have some bad luck.
Hopefully it will get better. Get those plug wires done and it should help alot. I have MSD superconductors and I did a custom routing job and so far they are fine. Route them carefully and remember, zip ties are your friend.

I agree with what brain said. If you could see the freakin 4th of July under the hood, whatever possessed you to go ahead and blow the money on a dyno session when you knew that the power wouldn't be right??
as i look back with 20/20 hindsight, it was stupid to dyno it running like ****. but in the end i didnt spend any money, and i got new rear brakes. its getting dyno'd this saturday if i fix the miss issue.

Actually, I would call the dyno guy back and ask him if I could get another run for free since he screwed up on the 1st one.
