torque strap???

I just got back from the exhaust shop for a passanger side collector leak that keeps blowin. Anyway, they looked at my car and said that the collector is bangin the frame and is stressing the flange and creating a leak. THey recomended a "torque strap" so that my engine will not torque to the right and bang the headers under load. Anyone have anything like this??? I was told to take this strap, and strap the driver side of the motor down to the frame so the motor won't move. Is this a good idea or should i look at another solution?? Thanks.

Many moons ago we used a length of chain in a similar manner... keep from breaking motor mounts too...

I don't have a link, but the Moroso part number is #62635. I just bolted a set up on Sunday.

I just dont see the use of solid motor mounts. Makes for a lot of vibration that is not needed. A chain was popular because only under a load would it work, not idling or low rpm driving, which most do. IMO

thanks guys. I don't want to use solid mounts, not becuase of vibration, because of the LABOR involved. I'm thinking either to use a strap or chain, or maybe I'll take a piece of solid rubber, and somehow mount it to the frame such that the motor hits that instead of the collector. Thanks for all your replies, it helped a lot.

Get some Energy Suspension mounts and you should have that problem.

under suspension, they have the energy motor mount inserts.
PN 3-1116 and 3-1127.

Is this what u mean?is this a new mount or something else, it says "inserts". Does it raise the motor??? If so that would look like a good idea. Thanks

the inserts use the same mount, but you replace the rubber with the poly. If you go to ES's website, I think that they have the entire mount. The entire mount woulb be better because you don't have to take apart the old one.

I installed the poly mounts (just replaced the rubber part) and it stopped my FLPs from hitting the floor when I accel. I didn't really notice more vibrations, not like when I put in the tranny mount. Just when I punch it everything feels more solid.
