Need Help Removing T56

i have a 96 Z28 with a T56 and need to replace the clutch, i have disconnected EVERTHING from the trans and it will move freely to a certain point it seems as though its hitting the floor boards before i can drop it the whole way down, anyone have this problem or know or can help me get this thing out i would like to fix it tomorrow night, thanks

did you pull the clutch fork off the TO bearing?

well i took the slave cylinder off and the housing around the end of the fork and pulled it as far as i could, i couldnt get it the whoel way out, or does it need to come the whole way out, i felt it click out of the bearing

The slot in the fork is about 1-1/4" long. That's as far as it will move, and that is enough to get it clear of the T/O bearing. If the tranny is actually hitting the floor, push up gently on the front of the engine to tilt the tranny down. A block of wood under the damper will work.

Do you have the engine & trans supported or did you let it hang? My mechanic buddy whose done a lot of these told me it's fine to just let it hang by the motor mounts unsupported, it makes it a lot easier to access some of the hard to reach bolts and gives you more clearance when removing it. Thats how I pull mine now, it comes out no problem that way.
