McLeod Twin Disc. LT1

I have a Zoom clutch in my car now, and it is shot, but i did a search on Mcleod, and found a bunch of Negative Things. Is the McLeod Twin worth its $1100 value? i mean the car has mods, and will have more mods soon, just want to be sure that im not wasting a bunch of money on a clutch unit that is poor. I heard that Mcleod Clutchs are the best clutchs, would be going in a Daily driver/ Track car.

I did a lot of searching on this board to get peoples opinions too. I thought about it long and hard before dishing out the 1100. But that 1100 gets you a flywheel and new master cylinder and a lot less heart ache. (or knuckle ache)

Other that the fact I just snapped my clutch fork in half. I’m very happy with the feel and performance of the clutch.

Where do you get a twin disk for $1100. Everywhere I have seen has it for much more than that.

PROS:
Twin disk has gone 8's
Very streetable

CONS:
Uber expensive (Where did you see $1100? I paid about that much for mine but I bought it 5 years ago, but they seem to go for $1500 now w/ alum flywheel)
Sensitive to being shimmed properly.
Will find all the weak links in your drivetrain components, ie. rear end, driveshaft, etc...

Mcloud Clutch

Im sorry and will be put to death here after this. I hate my Mcloud Twin setup. Clutch is either on or off. (yes shims are correct) Cannot slip clutch to take off. Everytime i drive it i smell the clutch. If anybody here can help me make this clutch more streetable let me know. All Mcloud stated to me as i put more miles on the clutch it will get better but if feel im just waring it out ever time i driv.

VRE (board sponsor) had the best price I could find.

Know that the master cyl is currently on back order from Mcleod. I didn't learn that until after I ordered my kit. I got mine to work without it for now, but just barely. Had to bleed the system super well, and use every bit of pedal travel.

I think it's completely drivable. Stands up to >800rwhp in a 4,000lb car.

Well in regards to price diffrence vrs. performance, what is your guy's views on the Spec style 1-5 clutches? Because with the cheaper price tag, ive also heard great things about the spec clutch. The previous owner had a spec 3 in my car and said it last for 2 years, with beating on it at the track.

These are the steel flywheel models. Depends on how your engine is balanced:

64022-00-07 CHEVROLET 1993-1997 V8 ; 0-Bal, 1-1/8 x 26 Input,153T,Pull Style W/ M/C. $1646.00

64012-00-07 CHEVROLET 1993-1997 V8 ; 0-Bal, 1-1/8 x 26 Input,153T,Pull Style,No M/C. $1585.00

64012-1A-07 CHEVROLET 1993-1997 V8 ; Ext Bal 1-1/8 x 26 Input,153T,Pull Style,No M/C. $1600.00

64022-1A-07 CHEVROLET 1993-1997 V8 ; Ext Bal 1-1/8 x 26 Input,153T,W/ M/C $1664.00

64022-2C-07 CHEVROLET 1993-1997 V8 ; Ext Bal 383/400 1-1/8 x 26 Input,153T,Pull Style, W/ M/C $1664.00

Then you get similar choices with an aluminum flywheel:

63012-00-07 CHEVROLET 1993-1997 V8 ; 0-Bal, 1-1/8 x 26 Input,153T,Pull Style,No M/C. $1545.00

63012-1A-07 CHEVROLET 1993-1997 V8 ; Ext Bal 1-1/8 x 26 Input,153T,Pull Style,No M/C. $1570.00

63022-2C-07 CHEVROLET 1993-1997 V8 ; Ext Bal 383/400 1-1/8 x 26 Input,153T,Pull Style, W/ M/C $1875.00

Re: McLeod Twin Disc. LT1

If you can deal with a aluminum flywheel, and check out McLeods EBay store or Racing Junk section they are blowing out complete pull style twins with master cylinders for $1125.00 P/n 63022-1A-07
