I bought one used for about 1/2 of the new cost.... but I knew the car it was coming out of. Worked fine for a couple years, and I sold it again along with my T56 to someone doing an M6 conversion. He never had any problems with the clutch that I was aware of.

The 30th SS convertible mine came out of was making about 750HP when he decided to put in a TH400.... and he took it to the track a lot. I got the complete Street Twin including hydraulics (slave had been modified, which was the way McLeod handled it many years ago), the T56, and a nylon clutch explosion blanket for less than 1K. But he never really abused it, because he was afraid of breaking something. I also raced with it a bit, doing some 5,000+rpm dumps with huge slicks, and it didn't seem to harm it at all.

I bought mine used almost 2 years ago from Jason Short. He had used it in his 9 second na firebird. I have had no problems with it, works great. Mcloed will rebuild it for around 300 dollars so if you get a good deal, I would say go for it. Just make sure to get all the parts.
Hope this helps.
