is the rear end the same in a 3.4 6cylinder and a 5.7 v8 fbody

The internals (posi vs one wheel special etc..) may be different, but you could swap them from one car to another.

i beg to differ, the 10bolt out of my v6 car had a open diff. no posi.


as for externally being the same their identical. except the v6 cars had drum brakes in the rear. Im not sure if discs were a option or not.

well the differences are the gear ratio, open or posi, disc or drum, but the rearends are the same. they will bolt up exactly like one another. the gears and posi units will interchange. you could order whatever you liked. my moms car was a v6 posi disc brake car. she thought that because it was a six she would get better mileage. they are the same
