about 200-300.

I am starting to wonder. The gear whine is worse at the speeds I just happen to drive everyday. 30-35 and 50-55. I wonder if somehow the speed you drive most often makes the gears whine at those speeds during break-in

I think it's more the amount of pressure (less) that is applied during cruising. Accelerating and decelerating both would apply more pressure (more tooth contact) than normal cruising (if it's setup anywhere close to spec). This is my theory anyway.

But if I go 48 or 58 under acceleration there is no whine at all. The fastest I have gone so far is 115, and it was dead quiet there as well.

Strange did the same thing with my 12-bolt.... no reluctor ring. They sent a new carrier, with the reluctor ring to a local shop we both agreed to use, paid for the swap, and guaranteed the shop's work.

I'm pretty sure once they're broke in (used), you don't have to do it again.

So, you don't think Strange will send a center section complete with gears and all?

Alright, Strange is having a local shop rebuild the rear with all new parts.

Let us know if the rebuild yeilds better results on the noise issue than the original. I am really thinking of just buying a used 12 bolt and rebuilding it rather than putting up with all the problems everyone else seems to be having with the Danas. I would love to see the ratio of happy owners vs unhappy ones.

I actually really like this idea. Now a local shop will be responsible for the gears if they start making noise...So all I got to do is take it down the street.

my friend has a newer jeep, and they come w/ the dana 60's, his is not noisy at all and it has 4.10s in it.
I will end up getting a dana 60 for my car here in a couple years more than likely
