Help! 200R4 question.

Okay, so we're going up to the Frankenmuth AutoFest today. I'm driving the GSX and was supposed to leave at 1:00.

I went out, started it, put it in drive, pulled out of the garage, put it in park, and went back inside for ten minutes while the engine warmed up.

I came back out, pulled the shifter to drive again, and noticed that the shifter didn't feel right -- the effort was much lower than usual.

After some experimentation, I've discovered that it seems that the shifter linkage has come disconnected at the transmission, with the tranny itself in reverse. I say at the transmission because I pulled the shifter boot and can see the shifter end moving freely.

Thanks to the loose converter and old-style electronics, I am able to start the engine with it in gear. I can back this thing up all day long, but it's backed into my garage, so I'd have to push it out (again, thanks to the loose converter) if I wanted to get anywhere.

I don't have jack stands or a jack. I have ramps, but with the car stuck in reverse they're pretty useless.

Ideas? Anyone know where the shifter linkage attaches to the tranny on a 200R4? Anything?

Anyone in my area that wants to help?

Thanks!

Re: Help! 200R4 question.

Well, it turns out that the shifter cable was a bit too close to the new X-pipe. There is no sign of the zip ties which were holding the cable away from the pipe (melted?), and the cable itself melted and fused to the side of the exhaust pipe.

Thanks much to Dan Burk (ws6transam) for letting me borrow his jack and jackstands, and to Johnson's Speed Warehouse in west Lansing for having a replacement cable for a B&M Megashifter in stock.
