Question ??? Few Stall Questions:

I am looking at getting the s10 torque converter for my 4l60e. I can get a great deal on this and do not want to spend $ on aftermarket. I know about all the other aftermarket stalls and they are better than this s10 but for the price this is a great budget mod and still very streetable.

1. How much of in increase in stall is this compared to stock lt1?

2. Is the str the same?

3. Will it negatively impact gas mileage on the highway? why/why not

4. Will it negatively affect gas mileage in town if I'm easy on the throttle?

-the last question is one I can never seem to get a stright answer on. I would think gas mileage would not be affected unless you got on the gas.

5. Will my car feel sloppy or sluggish with this higher stall or is it not high enough? - if you have used this s10 converter please post!

6. Which s10 converter will work? Someone told me about the 4 cylinder
s-10 stalls even higher? The v6 is the one everone talks the most about right?

Re: ??? Few Stall Questions:

I don't think the stall rating is much more than 3-4 hundred RPM above a stock LT1 converter. That small of a difference isn't worth the time and money and you may not even feel a diffrence. With a higher stall you will probaly see a little less fuel mileage with city driving. At least that is my experience with the 3400 I had. On the hyway the fuel milage will not change if you have a lock up converter. I would really shy away from putting a converter from a 4 cylinder or 6 cylinder in to a Lt1 putting out nearly twice the HP and TQ. Take some time and save the money for a GOOD aftermarket converter. There are some site sponcers here that have very good deals on high quality converters.
