Factory M6 Car??
Factory M6 Car??
Is there a way to determine if my 93 z28 is a factory M6 car or if its been converted? will the vin or glove box info determine this?? I noticed a GU2 Code on the glovebox sticker which from what i read means 2.73s. I was thinking 6 speed cars where 3.23s or 3.42s. thanks!
No info in the VIN to indicate the trans type. Look at the build code tag for the tranny code.
In 93, there were 2 different T56 tannies - M28 and M29 (one of those codes would be on the tag). The M28 came with 2.73 (GU2) rear axle, and the M29 came with 3.23 rear axle (GU5). The A4's also had either 2.73 or 3.23, so you can't tell from the rear axle which tranny it had. The 3.42's weren't used with the T56 until 94 (MN6 code).

If you have the VIN, run it through the VIN calculator at
www.compnine.com
This should give you a copy of the build sheet, with all the RPO codes-
