I was trying to check the ratio of my gears today to actually verify that the guy I bought the car from had 4.10's installed. Rotated the tire 1 full turn and got 4.25 turns on the driveshaft. Sound right? tire size, if it matters, is 255/50/16.

Well, if they were 4.10's you would have seen 4.1 turns.

He's within 3-4%... not bad considering the method used. Next option is to pull the cover off and count the teeth.

 

Thanks guys. I was just hoping NOT to get 3 or so turns of the DS. At least I know something was installed like I was told.

 

A trick I learned.. .It'll give you a rough guestamite.. provided you have stock diameter tires too.

do 80 in 4th gear.. then look at your tach, whatever the reading is is your rear ratio..
(a rough estimate.)
